Lotus – Flower of Macau
We have visited Macau, a city in Southern China just opposite the shores of Hong Kong, for a weekend retreat. To our surprise, we found many lotuses exhibited in the flower show near a lake in Cotai Strip.
There were many types of lotuses but as we were ignorant about flowers, we only absorbed the beauty of their full blossom. Luckily, I had the Tamron 60mm Macro lens with me, and as a macro lens it is pretty sharp and the quality of the out-of-focus highlights were pleasing, contributing to a better photo quality.
We appreciated the mesmerizing combination of pink and white petals against a background of deep green leaves. I took pleasure in targeting a water drop on a broad leaf as the subject of photography.
As we watched the sun set, the sunbeam shone on the gilded flowers and leaves at an interesting angle.
We glanced back to the place we came from, across the vast lake, where new skyscrapers and casinos populated the place. These three colossal structures are known as the Sands Cotai Central, the newest casino complexes in Macau. Set in the foreground on the right corner, you can catch a glimpse of the famous Venetian casino-resort.
We are rather satisfied with our weekend retreat, relaxing in the land of lotuses!

I didn’t expect this short post could get freshly pressed, our blog has been overwhelmed by traffic in the previous few days, we are still full of shock and excitement. We are grateful for all the visitors who spent time looking at the photos and visited this blog, as well as our old friends who frequently supported us with their generous comments, and we would like to thank you all for your encouragement.
Excellent photos! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Honestly didn’t know the exsistance of these flowers until a hip hop song came out. From that song this blog sparked interest in what they actually look like. Beautiful photos!!!!
It is sad how Macau has been invaded by casinos. I used to think it was a complete respite from busy HK.
Today it is even busier than Hong Kong!
